The new AutoCAD packs bunch of new features that changes the nature of customers’ work through improved automation and collaboration. From adding feedbacks, seeing insights and utilizing LISP API from the web, AutoCAD 2023 delivers exactly what you need. The new Markup Import and Markup Assist features allows you import feedback into your drawings automatically, reducing errors and saving you time. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you can add written comments and feedback from Trace layers. Also, with My Insights, you can learn about new features or workflows, curated specifically for you based on how you uniquely use AutoCAD.

With Autodesk’s powerful integrations, you can manage tasks like plotting with fewer hang ups and customization with more flexibility. The LISP API is now available in the AutoCAD web app. You can use it to customize your AutoCAD experience and automate repetitive processes wherever you are, on any computer. In addition, the cloud-first Sheet Set Manager in AutoCAD 2023 now enables you open sheet sets faster from Autodesk Docs. Using the Autodesk cloud platform, sending and opening from Autodesk Docs sheet sets to and from teammates is quicker and safer.

Without further delay, below are the new important features of AutoCAD 2023.

Markup Import and Markup Assist

With the addition of markup import and markup assist, the Trace feature is leveling up in this new version. These new features improve collaboration by allowing users to easily import feedback from paper and PDFs as a trace layer.

Markup import allows users to import paper feedback by simply using AutoCAD’s mobile app — taking a quick snapshot of written annotations and selecting what they would like to become a trace layer. PDF files can be imported directly. The imported annotations become a trace layer and allow users to adjust their opacity to work with feedback overlaid.

Markup assist makes adding changes and annotations to your design easier. By recognizing written feedback and allowing users to insert it into a drawing as text with just a few simple clicks.

Get productive with Macro Advisor

Using personalized macros, is another amazing feature of AutoCAD. But with AutoCAD 2023, Macro Assist allows you enjoy an improved My Insights feature. Its machine learning capabilities can detect when you are icompleting repetitive tasks and unintrusively suggest a macro to make it a little easier.

According to Autodesk, there’s a long list of curated macros but some won’t be made available yet. Only a selected few will be accessible to users which can easily be saved for future use.

LISP Routines in AutoCAD Web & Mobile

Autodesk’s online DWG editor, AutoCAD Web, now supports LISP routines. Users can set LISP routines to run at startup, load routines to the drawing, or rename and download LISP files. Just as in AutoCAD desktop, LISP routines can be run from the command line in AutoCAD Web.

It’s nice to see the AutoCAD web app receiving some attention in this update. The cloud-based DWG program is also free to use for non-AutoCAD users, though it’s unclear if that will end. For the time being, it means free users now have access to LISP routines too.
